Configure the server options established at installation time. New installed servers will be shown in this list.

Host Provisioning has an embedded PXE with TFTP and DHCP Proxy, making it possible to deploy network clients with no additional infraestructure. In enterprise environments a PXE deployment server may be in place and you would only need to upload the Host Provisioning deployment WIM image.

info

After changing an option an IIS pool application restart is required.

OptionDescription
Server Name/IPUse the FQDN (if server is joined to a domain), the hostname or the IP address (in environments where clients may not be able to resolve the DNS address)
Enable TFTP Server for PXEThe server will listen to TFTP requests for PXE network client deployment
Enable DHCP Proxy for PXEThe server will reply to DHCP PXE requests for network client deployment
Configure DeduplicationEnable deduplication in the local datastore, the role Deduplication must be installed on the server. Dedup will help you save space by referencing common data blocks, in the stored Windows images it'll be specially benefitial. It's highly recommended if using Branchcache, as the deduplicated segments are used in the hash calculation. When set, Host Provisioning will create a scheduled job to deduplicate data everyday at 1:45 AM
Enable High AvailabilityEnable the high availability services like publishing tasks and disks to other servers
Enable Broadcast replyServer will respond to client discovery server UDP requests during deployment
Datastore VHDx PathPath of the volume where the client images datastore file is located, for instance D:\ or D:\Datastore, make sure there is enough free space so the file can auto-grow when new images are added
Compact Datastore ScheduleSets the schedule for the maintenance of the server's datastore, reducing its size in case vhdx images have been deleted. During this compact window the server will not be able to listen to client requests

tip

The Compact Datastore schedule is much more efficient than a regular compact VHDx operation, as it zeroes and trims all free space.
